On October 9, Arcadia Winds will give the first performance of Scenes from Streeton, a new work commissioned to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Melbourne Recital Centre. The five-movement wind quintet also features the voices of Bruce Pascoe, Gwenda and Ian Langford, Eda Ritchie and Vivienne Ritchie, who talk about Arthur Streeton’s paintings of rural Victoria and how the landscapes have changed since he painted them, but also what had already happened to the landscape before the artist turned up with his paints and canvases.
