The trumpet is an outdoor instrument – it alerts us to the arrival of kings and queens, leads armies on to the battlefield and, if we can believe it, brought down the walls of Jericho. But Shh . . . , composed during the Covid pandemic, is an indoor piece for muted trumpet.
